Mario Bava (1914-1980)
Il a œuvré dans tous les genres, du fantastique au péplum, mais son nom reste surtout associé au giallo, une nouvelle forme de thriller qu’il invente en 1963 avec La Fille qui en savait trop. Chef opérateur réputé à ses débuts, il a su créer un univers gothique unique, que ce soit en noir et blanc ou en couleur. Parmi ses chefs-d’œuvre : Le Masque du démon (1960) et Six femmes pour l’assassin (1964).
Mario Bava (1914-1980)
He worked in all genres, from fantasy to peplum, but his name remains most closely associated with giallo, a new form of thriller he invented in 1963 with The Girl Who Knew Too Much. A renowned cinematographer in his early career, he created a unique gothic world, whether in black and white or in colour. Among his masterpieces are The Mask of the Demon (1960) and Six Women for the Murderer (1964).
