Son œuvre se divise en deux périodes distinctes : dans la première (1946-1958), ses chroniques sociales oscillent entre le drame, le film noir et le policier. Dans la seconde, il porte un regard critique sur la société italienne en mariant comédie et satire, notamment avec Divorce à l'italienne (1961), Séduite et abandonnée (1964) et Ces messieurs dames (Palme d'or à Cannes en 1966).
Pietro Germi (1914-1974)
His work can be divided into two distinct periods: in the first (1946–1958), his social chronicles oscillate between drama, film noir, and thriller. In the second, he takes a critical look at Italian society by combining comedy and satire, notably in Divorce Italian Style (1961), Seduced and Abandoned (1964), and Signore & signori (Palme d’Or at Cannes in 1966).
