SYNOPSIS

Révélé par des comédies comme Hector (1987) et Koko Flanel (1990), il s’impose avec Daens (1992), fresque sociale sur la condition ouvrière, nommée à l’Oscar. De Sœur Sourire (2009) à Marina (2013), sans oublier Ne tirez pas (2018), consacré aux tueries du Brabant, il affirme un cinéma populaire, accessible et humaniste, profondément ancré dans l’histoire et la culture belges.

Stijn Coninx (1957-)

 

He made his name with comedies such as Hector (1987) and Koko Flanel (1990), and gained recognition with Daens (1992), an Oscar-nominated social epic about the working class. From Sœur Sourire (2009) to Marina (2013), not to mention Ne tirez pas (2018), which focuses on the Brabant killings, he has developed a popular, accessible and humanist brand of cinema, deeply rooted in Belgian history and culture.
