In Germany during the Second World War, a group of Allied officers known for their determination to escape are brought together in a new stalag where they will be closely watched. In spite of this, they plan a mass escape by digging three tunnels that run from the prison barracks to emerge in the forest beyond the barbed wire. When the day comes, seventy-five of them manage to escape.
