During the First World War, two officers are brought down with their aircraft behind German lines. Taken to a prisoner-of-war camp, they are soon adopted by their companions in adversity who are preparing an escape plan. But before achieving their goal, they are transferred to a fortress prison where their escape will be more difficult.
