When 11-year-old Mahito’s mother dies, he leaves Tokyo and go to live in the country. He moves in with his father in an old manor house, located on an immense estate where he meets a grey heron who gradually becomes his guide and helps him to grapple with the world around him and to unravel life’s mysteries.
